Strengthening Data Partnerships for a Sustainable Future.

In a monumental step toward achieving sustainable development in Kenya, the SDGs Kenya Forum and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS)  officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that promises to transform how data is utilized in the country. This collaboration underscores the critical role data plays in driving informed decisions and ensuring that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are met with precision and efficacy.

Data: The Lifeblood of Sustainable Development

In today’s data-driven world, access to reliable, timely, and disaggregated data is not just a necessity; it's the lifeblood that sustains progress toward the SDGs. As we advance in our mission to leave no one behind, it has become increasingly clear that data is at the forefront of all decision-making processes. The partnership between SDGs Kenya Forum and KNBS is a bold acknowledgment of this fact. By pooling resources and expertise, we are paving the way for more accurate data collection, analysis, and dissemination, ensuring that every decision we make is informed by the best available evidence.

Bridging Data Gaps for a Brighter Tomorrow

This MoU marks the beginning of a concerted effort to bridge the data gaps that have long hindered sustainable development in Kenya. According to KNBS Director General Macdonald Obudho, this partnership will focus on enhancing the availability and accessibility of data, particularly in areas where data has been historically scarce or unreliable. "This partnership will facilitate the generation of more localized data that will be crucial in tracking the progress of the SDGs," he noted.

At SDGs Kenya Forum, we understand that data is not just about numbers; it's about people. It's about ensuring that the voices of the most marginalized communities are heard and that their needs are met. This collaboration with KNBS is a testament to our commitment to making data work for everyone, especially those who have been traditionally left out of the conversation.

 A Day to Remember

The signing ceremony was more than just a formal agreement; it was a celebration of what’s possible when like-minded organizations come together with a shared vision. As we iced the day with the final signatures, we reflected on the journey ahead. With this MoU in place, we are confident that our partnership with KNBS will serve as a model for how data can be used to empower communities, drive development, and ultimately, achieve the SDGs.

As we move forward, we invite all stakeholders to join us in this exciting journey!

Together, we can harness the power of data to create a more equitable, just, and sustainable future for all Kenyans.
