Education is the cornerstone of sustainable development, yet progress towards achieving quality education for all was already lagging before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. The pandemic exacerbated existing challenges, causing devastating learning losses in four out of five of the 104 countries studied.
In recent years, significant strides have been made in improving global health outcomes, with 146 out of 200 countries already meeting or making progress towards the SDG target on under-5 mortality. Effective HIV treatment has contributed to a 52% reduction in global AIDS-related deaths since 2010, and 47 countries have successfully eliminated at least one neglected tropical disease.
In a world facing escalating hunger and food insecurity, SDG 2 aims to eliminate hunger and ensure access to nutritious food for all by 2030. Despite global efforts, the number of people experiencing chronic hunger has surged since 2015, driven by the pandemic, conflict, climate change, and deepening inequalities. By 2022, approximately 735 million people, or 9.2% of the global population, were suffering from chronic hunger, a significant increase from 2019.

This goal aims to eliminate poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, by implementing targeted measures and fostering inclusive growth.
To ensure that no one is left behind, it's vital to transform public policies into inclusive consultative forums rather than imposing laws without input. By engaging diverse communities in the policy-making process, we can develop laws that truly reflect everyone's needs and aspirations. This approach promotes transparency, accountability, and mutual respect, creating a more democratic and equitable society

Where were you in 1995? That year, the world made a bold commitment to gender equality through the Beijing Declaration & Platform for Action. 30 years later, are we making real progress? We took a deep dive into the challenges that persist: Gender-based violence? Still widespread. Equal pay? Still an ongoing battle. Women in leadership? Still underrepresented. The urgency is real. We are at a turning point, and the fight for gender equality must remain a top priority. We need policy accountability, increased funding for gender programs, and stronger allyship to drive meaningful change.
