This pillar seeks to strengthen national and sub-national mechanisms for social and evidence-based accountability on the 2030 Agenda. Accountability to the Forum means an obligation or willingness of citizens, organizations, and government to accept responsibility for their actions, decisions, and outcomes.
It involves being answerable for one's actions and the consequences that result from those actions. In various contexts of our work, accountability plays a crucial role in maintaining trust, ensuring transparency, and promoting ethical behavior.
The Constitution recognizes this reality and calls for public involvement in crucial governance and policy-making processes. It illustrates the necessity for residents to be aware of their roles and responsibilities for them to participate in deciding on their fate by allowing for public engagement.
The basis for the logic behind public involvement is the idea that Kenyans have sovereign power that they have granted to state actors at the national and county levels. In all governance procedures, sovereignty must be honored and institutionalized.
